Charlie is almost one!

The month of march is almost over and April fast approaching, it's made me rather emotional to think that my baby boy with be a whole year old! Where has that year gone? It only felt like a few short months ago I was in the hospital having him.

This week ( Thursday to be exact) he will be 11 months old. This past week I have been looming through old photos and starting to make arrangements for his first birthday celebration. I thought  it went by quickly the first time, but with your second baby it seems to go even faster. I blink and he has mastered another milestone. He is a happy, clever and  cheeky little boy, who to my delight (most the time) is a big mummy's boy.

Charlie didnt have the easiest start in life.  The first week of his life he caught a cold and he went down hill from there, causing him to be hospitalised for pneumonia and suspected sepsis. It was the worst week of my life. To be told by a doctor if I had left him at home just one more day he probably wouldn't have made it, was the most frightening thought for any mother. He continued to struggle with chest problems right up until the new year, with various hospital trips and endless amounts of medication he seems to have beaten the winter bugs, fingers crossed, and is coming on leaps and bounds.

He is  crawling, clapping his hands, pulling himself up on furniture, walking when aided and has even taken a few unaided  steps. He says muma and dada and also yeah! If you ask him where  myself, his dada is or Elise he will point with his tiny index finger, which is the cutest thing. His favourite thing is to climb on or over everything and give me endless heart attacks when he falls off, but like most boys he will just go back and do it again and again.

So despite his poor health at the start , he is coming on leaps and bounds and I couldn't be prouder. I was so nervous and unsure about having a boy, as I was so used to a girl and I'm very girly but he is the most amazing little boy and brings a smile to everyone's face when you look at him. He filled a place in not just mine but our whole family's hearts, that we didn't even know was missing, and I can't wait to watch him grow and discover what the future holds for him.

Thank you for reading.
